GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and health, finance and education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma paid rich tribute to the Assamese soldiers who attained martyrdom in the historic Alaboi battle against the Mughals in 1669. CM Sonowal and minister Himanta Biswa Sarma attended a programme on the occasion of ‘Alaboi Smriti Divas’ at Dadara in Kamrup district on Wednesday. They recalled the contribution of the soldiers towards safeguarding the Assam and Assamese in the historic battle of Alaboi.
They were accompanied by water resources minister Keshab Mahanta.
The courage and sacrifice of the thousands of Assamese soldiers who fought valiantly against the Mughals in the Alaboi war were remembered at the event.
