Heralding a new dawn in the healthcare sector in Assam, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today (Jan 27) laid the foundation stone of Nalbari Medical College in the presence of Finance, Health and PWD Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Transport & Industries Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, MoS Health Pijush Hazarika, Lok Sabha MPs Bijoya Chakravorty and Ramen Deka, MLAs Ashok Sarma, Narayan Deka and Bimal Bora, ATDC chairman Jayanta Malla Baruah along with other partly leaders and government officials were also present at the foundation stone laying ceremony.
A ceremonial bhoomi poojan was also held on the occasion.
The Nalbari Medical College will be the 13th medical college in the State and will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 350 crore.
Himanta Biswa Sarma said construction of the Nalbari Medical College is expected to be completed in three years and will provide better healthcare services to people of Nalbari and adjoining areas.
