Guwahati: A pall of gloom descended at Ghatbar Saderi village as the funeral pyre of Martyr Pronoy Kalita was lit on Friday. Prior to the last rites, the mortal remains of the martyr reached his native village today afternoon. Family members and villagers could not hold back their tears as his funeral pyre was lit amid gun salutes and full state honours.
Pronoy’s wife and two daughters saluted their martyred father which made the public and family members emotional as tearr rolled down the cheeks of their kith and kin.Large number of people gathered at his last rites to show their respect.
People praised him for making the entire village proud with his martyrdom.
“He has made us all proud”, a family member of Pronoy kalita told News Live.
Pronoy kalita, was martyred in a deadly ambush by insurgents in Manipur on Wednesday.
