GUWAHATI: As Guwahati is going for another lockdown from Sunday midnight, people rushed to shops and markets to collect their essentials before the 14-day lockdown is imposed. All the business establishments including grocery, vegetable, fish and meat shops will remain shut during the lockdown which has been re-imposed to contain COVID-19 pandemic. Only pharmacies will be allowed to keep their shutters up.
With the rush of the customers, unscrupulous traders have been hiking the prices of essential commodities citing shortage in supplies. Prices of vegetables, meat, fish and other essential goods have been skyrocketing after the government announced the decision to re-impose lockdwon in Guwahati.
People also make a beeline in front of the ATMs to withdraw cash before the lockdown begins.
