GUWAHATI: For the first time, a legislator in Assam has tested positive for COVID-19. Krishnendu Paul who represents Patharikandi constituency in Barak Valley has been found positive for COVID-19 on Monday.
“The swab samples of the MLA were collected under the Assam Targeted Surveillance Programme (ATSP) on June 18,” said an official.
Following his test report, the residence of the BJP MLA has been made containment zone. The family members of Paul have been kept under quarantine.
Meanwhile, offices of Karimganj deputy commissioner (DC) and superintendent of police (SP) have been quarantined as a precautionary measure.
