GUWAHATI: Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) has approved the facility at Tezpur Medical College and Hospital as an accredited laboratory for testing COVID19. With this addition, the total number of COVID19 testing laboratories in Assam has reached 6.
Sharing the news on Twitter, Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Glad to share that @ICMRDELHI has approved facility at Tezpur Medical College as an accredited laboratory for testing of #COVID19. Now we’ve 6 testing labs. On first day itself, we’ve conducted successful testing.”
He also expressed hope that the approval of the new laboratory will bolster state government’s preparedness and testing capabilities in the wake of Coronavirus outbreak.
