GUWAHATI: Assam Police will strictly implement the lockdown which has been extended till May 3 amid COVID19 concerns. Assam Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for law and order GP Singh has indicated ruthlessness in implementing the lockdown in the state till April 20.
Taking to Twitter, ADGP Singh wrote, “Friends, let us be ruthless in implementing #lockdown till April 20th @assampolice.”

Assam Police acted tough against the violators during the 21-day nationwide lockdown. Police resorted to lathicharge against the violators in several parts of the state to strictly enforce lockdown rules.
The 21-day national lockdown was scheduled to end today on April 14. However addressing the nation today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an extension of lockdown till May 3. Emphasising the importance of the next one week in the fight against Coronavirus, he appealed to all the citizens of the country to stop the spread of the Covid-19 disease to newer areas.
