GUWAHATI: The man who killed his wife and three daughters at Silghat, Kaliabor in Nagaon district on Sunday has been arrested in Lakhimpur today.
After a massive manhunt, Assam Police arrested the assailant Jayanta Kumar Barman from Lakhimpur town.
“He has confessed that he committed the crime because of financial burden. There were some family issues also,” said a police officer.
The accused Jayanta Kumar Barman killed his wife Baijayanti Barman and daughters Nikita Barman, Bhaswati Barman and Nibedita Barman when they were asleep in the wee hours on Sunday. It has been suspected that he used some sharp weapons in killing the four.
Jayanta immediately fled from the scene after committing the heinous crime.
