GUWAHATI: The Secondary School Leaving Certificate examination began on Wednesday with the district administration taking special steps to ensure the tests are conducted smoothly. A total of 51,334 students are appearing in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination in 143 centres across Meghalaya.
Meghalaya’s capital Shillong has been tense in the wake of the recent violence and curfew. Keeping the situation in mind, the district administration provided buses to ferry students to the examination centres.
Admit cards were accepted as curfew passes for the students and two others accompanying them in areas wherever it was applicable.
The principal of St. Dominic school Father J Shela informed that attendance was normal and the examination went on smoothly without any glitch. He also informed that proper security was provided at the examination centres.
“For now, everything is all right. Security has been provided by the local Police station and I hope everything will be alright in the days to come. We have two centres,” said H M Marvin, Principal of Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian Girls High School.
