GUWAHATI: The doctors of Guwahati Medical College and Hospital will not be allowed to engage in private practice, said Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma at Assam Legislative Assembly today. However, the GMCH doctors will be paid at par All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS) doctors.
“We are going to ban the private practice of GMCH doctors from Bohag Bihu. They will get the same salary and other amenities like the doctors at AIIMS,” said Dr. Sarma.
“I have asked the doctors to resign if they wish to work at private nursing homes. Now we are going to make a distinction between the government and private sectors,” the minister reiterated.
He also mentioned that super specialty hospital is being constructed at Guwahati Medical College.
