The North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) has once again released water from its Doyang Hydro Power project in Nagaland, twice in the past 24 hours, resulting in massive flooding in several villages in Merapani subdivision in Golaghat district of Assam.

Thousands of villagers have been affected after NEEPCO released water from its Doyang project in Wokha district of Nagaland. Sarupathar, Kherbari, Doloni Pathar, Madhupur are among the worst-affected villages with people taking shelter in uplands following the deluge.

Meanwhile, marooned villagers have accused the district administration of not providing them any relief.

“NEEPCO released water from its reservoir without any warning. Our houses are under water. We have lost everything,” a marooned villager told News Live.
