Guwahati: For its 65th year, the Filmfare award ceremony will be held in Guwahati on February 15 2020. This is the first time in six decades the awards will be held outside Mumbai.
Recently Filmfare has announced nominations for its 65th Fashion on Amazon Filmfare Awards in 19 key categories. The official nominations were brought out at the Filmfare Technical Awards’ Night.
So let’s have a look at the nominations for the best actor (Female) in a leading role popular choice category
Alia Bhatt (Gully Boy):
Alia puts herself into the skin of Safeena remarkably and wears the ‘halkat’ accent with style and energy. Although, the whole drama focuses more on Ranveer but Alia excels whenever she appears on the screen. Safeena is uninhibited, sharp, ambitious, unorthodox and resilient in her character. She portrays her character with great ease and determination. Over the time Alia has proved herself to be a versatile actor from Highway to Gully Boy.
Kangana Ranaut (Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi):
Kangana is Manikarnika and Manikarnika is Kangana. Five minutes within the movie you cannot differentiate between the two. It is hard to believe that this is the same actor who played a drug addict fashion model in Fashion, a middle class girl in Queen and a Haryanvi girl in Tanu Weds Manu Returns. Manikarnika is another feather in her cap. Kangana is equally brilliant in emotional as well as action sequences. She carries herself with dignity and lets her eyes speak in the most difficult scenes.
Kareena Kapoor (Good Newwz):
Kareena Kapoor never fails to amaze us with her amazing acting. She is popularly known for her role in Jab We Met where she played the character Geet. This is that one movie that got her recognition from being the classy glamorous diva to the girl next door. She also played pivotal roles in Chameli and Heroine where we can see her emerging as a star. In Good Newwz Kareena plays a strong character that is ambitious, independent yet with a softer side of being a woman who dreams of having a complete family.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas (The Sky Is Pink):
From the obsessive lover of Aitraaz to the the autistic girl of Barfi! via the aspiring model of Fashion, Priyanka Chopra Jonas has proved herself as one of cinema’s most astutely authentic artistes. Priyanka Chopra is fantastic in her latest The Sky Is Pink. Not for a second do you feel that she has made a comeback to Bollywood after 3 years. She lives up to the character with finesse, progressing gracefully as the film keeps leaping years. There are scenes that belong only to her where she touches your heart just by her expressions and no dialogues. First as a young girl in love, then as a married woman, to finally a mother of two grown-ups, Priyanka is out there like a boss lady.
Rani Mukerji (Mardaani 2):
Rani Mukerji may have the might of perhaps the biggest and strongest production house in India, but with every performance, she proves that she doesn’t take it for granted. In Mardaani 2, she’s once again silenced naysayers, if any. The movie is a sequel to her previous flick Mardani. Rani delivers a power-packed performance. She is the star of the show; never over the top, but always nuanced. She also has vulnerability mixed in with toughness. In short Rani Mukerji is the force behind this gritty drama.
Vidya Balan (Mission Mangal):
Vidya Balan needs no introduction. She is the torchbearer of meaningful, women-driven cinema in Bollywood and has proved her mettle with memorable performances. Vidya has attempted to break gender-based stereotypes and proved that she doesn’t need a male hero to deliver a box office blockbuster. The actress was lauded for her performance and referred to as the star of the film Mission Mangal. She delivered her role with great conviction and has given Bollywood yet another strong female character to rave about.
