GUWAHATI: “Territorial integrity of Assam will be preserved. There is no proposal in this accord to include new villages or areas under BTC,” said Assam health, finance and education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa sarma in Guwahati.
Amid speculation over new Bodo peace accord with the government and all groups of National Democratic Front of Bodoland, minister Sarma clarified that this accord would respect integrity of Assam.
“Government of India has made it clear to Assam government that there will be no partition or no union territory will be formed out of Assam. Not a single part of erstwhile undivided Sonitpur district will be included in Bodoland Territorial Council,” Dr. Sarma added.
He also appealed to the people of Assam not to believe in any rumour regarding the proposed Bodo peace accord.
