The respite from the devastating floods for marooned villagers could be short-lived with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a weather alert, over the possibility of Assam and many places in the other Northeastern States receiving heavy to very heavy showers. The National Weather Forecasting Centre of IMD issued the alert, warning of heavy rainfall activities in the next five days.
Heavy rainfall is likely to lash parts of Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Sikkim today (June 27) and tomorrow (June 28) while heavy rains are expected to lash Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and Sikkim on Friday (June 29).
On the other hand, heavy to very heavy rains are likely in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya and Sikkim on Saturday, June 30, while “heavy to very heavy rain with extremely heavy falls” are expected across Assam and Meghalaya while isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim are also likely to experience heavy rainfall on Sunday (July 1).
Several other States are also likely to experience Monsoonal activity during the next 4-5 days.
