GUWAHATI, Dec 16: With the relaxation of curfew in Guwahati from 6 am to 9 pm on Monday, normal life is fast returning to Guwahati. People have resumed their day-to-day affairs following the withdrawal of day curfew.
Public transport system has been running normally as vehicles including city buses started to ply on the roads of Guwahati from morning. Offices, banks, business establishments are also functioning normally from today.
Night curfew, however, will remain in force from 9 pm to 6 am until further orders, Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted Sunday night.
On the other hand, people thronged vegetable markets in the city after denizens faced acute problems with vegetable stocks running out in their houses during the couple of days that the city was hit by violence.
Interestingly, amid reports of several unscrupulous traders trying to create an artificial scarcity of perishable food and vegetables, many vendors today said that regular supplies are arriving and that prices, too, are under control.
On the other hand, most of the long-distance trains have resumed their journey from today, NF Railway Public Relations Officer Nripen Bhattacharya told News Live.
