Guwahati: In an unfortunate incident a speeding Alto vehicle (AS-25C-3033) travelling towards Rani from Gorchuk side hit two on-duty Assam forest officials near the banks of Deepor Beel. Three persons were reported severely injured and one person died in the hospital.
According to Azara police, at around 9:15 PM on Monday, two Assam forest department officials, Babul Choudhury and Lakhindra Teron were chasing a wild elephant, when the speeding Alto car hit and dragged them.
With the help of the local people the police took the forest officials to nearby Excelcare Hospitals, Boragaon, where Babul Choudhury succumbed to his injuries.
On the other hand, the passengers of the Alto vehicle, Baneswar Basumatary (driver) and Babul Rabha were also severely injured in the accident and were taken to Azara block primary health centre and were later referred to Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital, Guwahati.
