AASU, Sangrami Mancha continue protests over Citizenship (Amendment) Bill

Protest continues in Assam over the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill with the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) staging a huge rally in Lakhimpur, while the Asom Andulan Sangrami Manch sent letters addressed to the President, Prime Minister and other central ministers on Friday.

The AASU staged a massive rally in Lakhimpur opposing the bill. The ‘Gana Satyagraha’ organised by AASU witnessed the participation of a huge number of people of Lakhimpur.

On the other hand, the Asom Andulan Sangrami Manch organised the protest rally from Lakhidhar Bora Kshetra to Meghdoot Bhawan in Guwahati and sent letters to the President, Vice-President, Prime Minister, Union Home Minister, Chief Ministers of several other States and members of parliament while reiterating its opposition to the Bill. Former two-term Chief Minister of Assam and senior Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) leader Prafulla Kumar Mahanta and several other leaders of the Sangrami Manch took part in the rally.
