Gohpur: A man allegedly tried to sacrifice his two and a half month old son in Jogibari of Gohpur in Assam’s Biswanath district, but his plans were foiled when the locals intervened and informed the local police.
It may be mentioned here that the accused father identified as Pradip Gowala, snatched the baby from her mother and tried to sacrifice him in the courtyard of their house. It is learned that he was being held by a Tantrik (Shaman). The mother raised a hue and cry following which the villagers rushed to their house.
The frightened locals shouted as they tried stopping the accused, from allegedly sacrificing his son. They then detained the accused and handed him over to police. The incident triggered a sensation in the entire area.
After reaching the spot Assam Police arrested Pradip Gowala along with the Tantrik (Shaman).
Police have already started the investigation on the matter.
