Bordumsa OC Bhaskar Kalita martyred in encounter with ULFA (I)

Bhaskar Kalita, the Officer in Charge of Bordumsa Police Station in upper Assam’s Tinsukia district, martyred during a fierce gun battle between United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent ULFA-(I) cadres and the security forces at Kujupathar in Tinsukia’s Bordumsa on Friday night.

Prior to that, an intense gunfight took place between a joint team of Army, Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans and suspected cadres of ULFA (I) at Kujupathar area of Bordumsa.

According to sources, on receiving information about the presence of ULFA (I) extremists in a house near Bordumsa, Assam Police and Cobra Battalion of CRPF, led by Bhaskar Kalita, raided the area. There are also reports of six grenade blasts amid the heavy exchange of firearms.

Meanwhile, Bordumsa OC Bhaskar Kalita hailed from Majirgaon locality in Azara. He is survived by his parents, wife and twin child.
