RPF of NF Railway launched separate operations in various railway stations from June 25 to 29 and rescued 27 people in total
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of NF Railway rescued as many as 27 people — 22 of them minors — from various railway stations during operations launched from June 25 to June 29, 2025.
Three men and two women were also rescued during this period, NF Railway CPRO Kapinjal Kishore Sharma stated in a statement issued to News Live.
All rescued individuals were safely handed over to Child Line authorities, NGOs, their respective parents & the local police for further necessary action.
Major rescue operations were conducted by RPF teams of Katihar, Kishanganj and Samsi on June 25 and 26 during which a total of 5 runaway minor boys were successfully rescued by the respective teams and were later handed over to the designated Childline authorities for their safe custody.
Similarly, on June 27, an RPF team rescued a runaway minor boy at Kamakhya Railway Station who was subsequently handed over to Child Line, Kamakhya for safe custody.
On June 28, a team of RPF posted at New Bongaigaon rescued 5 runaway minor girls and a man at New Bongaigaon. The minors were subsequently handed over to Child Line, Bongaigaon for safe custody while the man was detained at the RPF Post/New Bongaigaon for further inquiry and necessary legal action.
An RPF team from New Coochbehar rescued a missing man at New Coochbehar Railway Station on June 29 who was later safely reunited with his family after proper identification and verification procedures.
Under the “Meri Saheli” initiative which focuses on the safety and well-being of women passengers, especially those who are travelling alone, the dedicated lady squads of the RPF remain proactive and vigilant so as to provide immediate help to those in need. Their continuous efforts, NF Railway stated, have ensured a secure travel environment for numerous women passengers.
