Telangana Factory Blast: A tragic day unfolded in Telangana as a massive blast ripped through the Sigachi Chemicals factory in the Pashamylaram industrial estate, Sangareddy district, leaving behind devastation, death, and many unanswered questions. As of Tuesday morning, the death toll climbed to 35, with many more still missing under the rubble. Rescue teams have been working day and night to recover bodies and look for survivors.
On Monday, when the incident occurred, around 61 workers were believed to be present inside the factory. The explosion was so powerful that it turned large parts of the facility to ashes, trapping several people under the debris. By Tuesday, rescue workers, police, and fire personnel had managed to recover several bodies, but the search was still on to find the missing ones.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy reached the site on Tuesday morning to take stock of the situation. He met with officials, reviewed rescue operations, and assured quick help for the victims’ families. As a relief measure, the government has announced financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to those injured in the blast.
The CM also instructed a complete safety audit of all chemical factories across Telangana to prevent such tragic incidents in the future. He formed a five-member high-level committee to probe the incident and find out what exactly caused the explosion. The committee includes top officials like the chief secretary, disaster management heads, and fire safety officers.
According to early reports from rescue teams, the explosion may have happened due to a sudden build-up of pressure inside a spray dryer machine. The factory is known to produce microcrystalline cellulose (MCC), a chemical used in making pharmaceutical and food products. One senior official said that fine dust chemical particles could have triggered the blast and then a major fire that followed.
Sigachi Chemicals is considered a major player in the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industry. Their unit in Pashamylaram was one of the key factories producing critical raw materials. But now, what once was a bustling industrial facility is now a site of sorrow and loss.
The atmosphere at the factory site remains tense and emotional. Families of the missing workers have gathered outside, waiting for any news about their loved ones. Emergency services continue their rescue work, digging through collapsed structures and dealing with difficult conditions due to leftover chemical hazards.
This incident has shocked the entire state and sparked a serious conversation about industrial safety and the working conditions in chemical factories. The state government has assured that strict action will be taken if negligence is found.
