Assam cop dies of choking after consuming gutkha: A policeman in Assam’s Cachar district died while on duty due to suspected choking after he consumed gutkha, reports said.
Surajit Deka of Rangia, who was the In-Charge (IC) of Bihara Outpost, was found unconscious in his room after repeated calls went unanswered.
Officers broke open the door and found him unresponsive.
Top police officials confirmed that his larynx was choked, likely due to gutkha consumption, leading to breathing complications.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital and then shifted to Silchar Medical College Hospital (SMCH) where he breathed his last.
