More than 12 lakh devotees are expected to visit Kamakhya Temple during Ambubachi Mela 2025
The five-day annual Ambubachi Mela got underway at the Kamakhya Temple on Sunday (June 22) with the temple doors closed for visitors at 2:56 pm.
The temple doors will be re-opened at 3:19 am on June 26 after the Nivritti is performed.
Ambubachi Mela is celebrated anually at the historic Kamakhya Temple, marking the yearly menstruation course of goddess Maa Kamakhya.
Meanwhile, with thousands of Sadhus and devotees making a beeline to Guwahati, adequate arrangements have been made for the five-day event.
More than 12 lakh devotees are expected to visit the temple during Ambubachi Mela this year.
Nearly 5,000 workers are being engaged in cleanliness activities while NCC cadets and Scouts and Guides will assist police personnel for smooth devotee management.
No vehicles will be allowed to enter from Kamakhya foothills towards the Kamakhya Temple from June 22 (Sunday) to June 25 (Wednesday) except vehicles having authorized car passes (ferry cars) issued by the district administration.
However, such movement will be restricted from 5 pm to 10 pm, Assam Police stated in a statement.
The whole stretch under the Nilachal Flyover will also be earmarked as restricted parking zone.
