The Election Commission of India (ECI) has now made it easier and faster for voters to receive their Voter ID cards. From now on, the EPIC (Electors’ Photo Identity Card) will be delivered within just 15 days after any update is made to the electoral roll. Earlier, it usually took more than a month for the card to reach the voter. This change has been brought in to make the whole process smoother, faster, and more transparent for citizens.
Under the leadership of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi, a new system has been rolled out. It includes real-time tracking, SMS alerts at every stage, and a dedicated IT module through the ECINet platform, which is now connected to the Indian Postal Department’s system.
Now, voters who apply for a new Voter ID or update their existing one will be able to track their card from the moment it’s generated to the time it is delivered. The ECI’s goal is to improve services and make sure that voters get their identity cards as soon as possible, without any long wait or confusion.
