Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday visited the site of the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad and spoke with officials as he reviewed the on-ground situation.
He also met Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, the 40-year-old British national of Indian origin and the lone crash survivor, at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital.
Ramesh, seated on seat number 11A of the Dreamliner, had escaped by jumping from the plane and was seen walking upto an ambulance after the deadly crash.
Prime Minister Modi also inquired about the health of other people, mostly hostel inmates of the BJ Medical College UG hostel.
The Air India flight AI-171 from Ahmedabad had crashed into the hostel mess of BJ Medical College in Meghani Nagar area of the city shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Thursday afternoon.
“Visited the crash site in Ahmedabad today. The scene of devastation is saddening. Met officials and teams working tirelessly in the aftermath. Our thoughts remain with those who lost their loved ones in this unimaginable tragedy,” Prime Minister Modi wrote on ‘X’.
PM Modi also held a review meeting with officials at the Ahmedabad airport.
