A wild buffalo which had killed two persons in Tezpur besides injuring three others has been found dead inside a pit covered with water hyacinth in Polo Field Bamungaon locality of the town.
The buffalo is believed to have drowned in the water body after failing to come out of it.
The buffalo had killed two persons besides seriously injuring three others in separate incidents in Tezpur town on Monday.
It had first attacked a man at Tezpur Jahazghat. The person, identified as Dharkan Das, was rushed to Kanaklata Civil Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival by doctors.
A CCTV video that later went viral showed the buffalo running towards Das early on Monday morning and tossing him up into the air with his horns.
On the other hand, another person named Bhojan Gop (70), who was seriously injured after he was attacked by the wild buffalo when he and another person named Rongili Choudhury (67) ventured out of their home, died at Tezpur Medical College Hospital (TMCH).
Two other persons — Pradip Bhoumik (64) and Apu Rai (35) — were also injured after the buffalo attacked them at Nepalipatty locality of the town when they were travelling in an e-rickshaw.
