Assam Police seize drugs worth Rs 3.5 crore in Cachar, one peddler arrested

Assam Police has been launching a crackdown on drugs in Assam since Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma assumed charge as chief minister of the State

Assam Police and Assam Rifles, in a joint operation conducted on Tuesday, seized 648 grams of heroin valued at Rs 3.5 crore in the international market in Cachar district of Assam.

A peddler was also arrested by Police during the operation while cops also aseized a pistol from the peddlar’s possession.

In an anti-narcotics operation carried out by @cacharpolice, ARFIU and Assam Rifles

648g heroin worth ₹3.5 crore and 1 pistol was recovered. 1 peddler has been arrested,” Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma stated in a post on ‘X’, formerly Twitter.

Assam Police has been relentless in their crackdown on drugs and narcotics and have arrested hundreds of drug peddlers since CM Dr Sarma assumed charge as chief minister of Assam.
