Tripura: RPF of NF Railway continues strict vigil to stop cross-border infiltration, apprehends 6 Bangladeshi migrants & 6 Indian agents

NF Railway says it is committed to safeguarding railway premises from being used as transit points for illegal activities

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of NF Railway has continued its vigilant and coordinated action against illegal infiltration of Bangladeshi nationals using the railway network. In alignment with its commitment towards national security and public safety, RPF/NF Railway successfully apprehended multiple Bangladeshi nationals and their Indian accomplices during the month of April & May 2025.

These actions are part of an intensified efforts to prevent the misuse of railway routes by illegal migrants and human traffickers.

A total of 6 Bangladeshi nationals along with 6 Indian agents were apprehended by RPF/NF Railway in separate operations between May 1 & 16. The most significant action took place on May 16 when RPF/Agartala, along with SIB/Badarpur and BSF/AHTU, apprehended 2 Bangladeshi nationals (1 male and 1 female) along with 4 Indian agents at Agartala railway station.

Four Bangladeshi nationals along with 2 Indian handlers were also subsequently arrested at Radhikapur and Agartala railway stations during the same fortnight and were later taken into custody.

The apprehended persons were handed over to respective GRP outpost for legal action under relevant Railway Act provisions.

During the month of April, RPF/NFR apprehended 32 illegal Bangladeshi migrants along with an Indian agent in separate operations conducted at Agartala, Bhanga, Dharmanagar and Karimganj railway stations.

The arrested Bangladeshi nationals were later handed over to the respective GRP outpost for further legal action.

The RPF of NF Railway remains committed to safeguarding railway premises from being used as transit points for illegal activities. The force is working in close coordination with state police and central agencies like the BSF to prevent cross-border infiltration and trafficking through the railway network. Such operations will continue to be intensified in vulnerable regions to maintain national security and passenger safety, a release issued by NF Railway CPRO Kapinjal Kishore Sharma stated.
