Gautam Gambhir offering prayers at Kamakhya Temple holds special significance ahead of India’s crucial tour to England
Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir Monday offered prayers at the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati as Team India prepares for the upcoming tour to England where they will play 5 test matches.
Gambhir arrived at Guwahati today morning and headed to the Shakti peeth perched atop the Nilachal Hills where he offered his prayers before Maa Kamakhya.
The tour to England, which will begin on June 20 and run till the middle of August, marks the beginning of the new World Test Championship cycle.
Shubman Gill will lead India as the team begins a crucial transitional phase after the retirement of twin greats Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
Rishabh Pant was appointed vice-captain of the squad.
The first Test will be played at Headingley from June 20, the second at Edgbaston (July 2-6), the third at Lord’s (July 10-14), fourth at Old Trafford (July 23-27), and the final at The Oval from July 31 to Aug 4.
