Kaziranga National Park in Assam has been receiving record tourists in recent years with Sachin Tendulkar and his family spending two nights and three days at the wildlife sanctuary in April
Jeep Safari at the Kaziranga National Park in Assam will remain closed from May 19 until further notice due to inclement weather and poor road conditions, the Chief Minister’s Office in Dispur stated.
“The Jeep Safari at Assam’s Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve will remain closed from May 19 until further notice due to inclement weather and poor road conditions,” Assam CMO stated in a post on its social media handles.
Another notice issued by the Divisional Forest Officer of the Eastern Assam Wildlife Division in Bokakhat also informed travellers and visitors about the decision to close jeep safari at Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve with effect from May 19, 2025.
“It is notified for general information and best interest of all concerned that Jeep Safari for the visitors in Kaziranga National Park & Tiger Reserve will remain closed from 19th May, 2025, due to inclement weather and road conditions,” the notice read.
Kaziranga national Park has been receiving a huge number of visitors since the past many years. In April, the Kaziranga National Park reported an all-time high footfall of tourists in the financial year 2024-25 with a total of April, the Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve reported an all-time high number of tourists in the financial year 2024-25.
“In the past two years, Kaziranga National Park proudly welcomed His Excellency, King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan, marking a historic moment. Also, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made history as the first to visit Kaziranga on 9th March 2024. He is the first Prime Minister to do so since its elevation to a National Park in 1974. Very recently, Minister of External Affairs Dr S Jaishankar, along with 60 Heads of Mission from various countries, visited the park as part of the Advantage Assam 2.0 initiative on Feb 24, 2025, emphasising its global significance,” news agency ANI quoted Sonali Ghosh, Field Director of Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve, as saying.
Master-blaster Sachin Tendulkar, his wife Anjali Tendulkar and daughter Sara had visited the internationally-famous abode of the one-horned rhinoceros for three days from April 7 during their recent visit to Assam and Meghalaya.
Sachin and his family members took two jeep safaris to explore the park interiors as he urged people to come to Assam and explore Kaziranga, terming his visit a “wild ride”.
“Kaziranga was a wild ride. The sights, the trails and a rare golden tiger spotting. Mother Nature went full show-stopper on this one!” he wrote on social media, posting a video of his visit to the internationally-famous wildlife and tourist hotspot.
