Union Home Minister Amit Shah dedicated the Bodofa Upendranath Brahma Marg in New Delhi today to honour Bodofa’s contributions on his 35th death anniversary
Union Home Minister Amit Shah today (May 1) dedicated the newly-named Bodofa Upendranath Brahma Marg besides also unveiling a 9-foot-tall statue of the iconic Bodo leader in Kailash Colony, New Delhi.
The function, which was also attended by Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister of Delhi Rekha Gupta, BTC Chief Pramode Boro along with other invitees, coincided with the 35th death anniversary of the Bodo leader who is hailed as the Father of the Bodo community.
The 35-metre-wide stretch of the Lala Lajpat Rai Marg in South Delh was renamed after the iconic Bodo social activist to honour his contribution towards uplifting the Bodo community.
“Bodofa Upendranath Brahma Ji dedicated his entire life to the progress of the Bodo community in Assam. It is a matter of immense joy that today his statue is being unveiled and a road is being dedicated in his honour in New Delhi,” Home Minister Shah said after dedicating the Bodofa Upendranath Brahma Marg to the nation and unveiling his statue.
Earlier on Thursday, Chief Minister Dr Sarma took to the social media to offer his tributes to Bodofa Upendranath Brahma.
“On his punyatithi, I offer my tributes to the tallest leader of Bodo society, Bodofa Upendranath Brahma. The day is also special as Adarniya @AmitShah ji will dedicate the Bodofa Upendranath Brahma Marg in New Delhi this evening,” he stated in a post on ‘X’.
