Forest Fire in Arunachal Pradesh: The forest fire in Dirang, Arunachal Pradesh, began around 2:30 PM on Thursday, April 24, 2025. It was reportedly caused by an electric short-circuit in a residential area near the Additional Deputy Commissioner’s (ADC) office. The fire quickly spread to nearby forested regions due to dry conditions and strong winds.
A coordinated firefighting operation, involving the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), the Sikh Regiment, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), members of the general administration, local police, and community volunteers, managed to bring the blaze under control by Friday evening, April 25. Fortunately, no casualties or property damage were reported.
The fire had spread over several acres of beautiful forest land, raising serious concerns among the local people. Fortunately, there was no loss of life or property reported. Videos of the fierce flames quickly made rounds on social media, showing just how intense the situation was.
Dirang MLA Phurpa Tsering shared with ANI that the fire was controlled through a joint effort by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), local police, the fire department, the district administration, and local volunteers. He praised the quick action and teamwork that helped prevent a bigger disaster. “There was no report of any casualty and no property damage,” said Tsering, highlighting the success of the coordinated firefighting mission.
Even though most of the fire was doused by Thursday evening, Arunachal Pradesh police confirmed on Friday that small firefighting efforts were still ongoing in a few isolated spots. They also took to social media to appreciate the hard work of everyone involved, from officials to local volunteers, who worked day and night without giving up.
This incident reminds people of another fire earlier this year in February, when a large blaze broke out in the Tenga market area of the same district. That time too, the quick response of the Indian Army’s Gajraj Corps saved lives and protected the market area. Their speedy action was seen as a shining example of the strong bond between the army and local civilians in Arunachal Pradesh.
Forest fires like these are serious threats, especially in hilly and forested areas like Dirang. However, the way different teams came together and fought the flames with courage shows the strength and spirit of the people of Arunachal Pradesh. It also underlines the importance of quick action, good coordination, and strong teamwork in the face of such natural disasters.
The local administration and police are continuing to monitor the situation to ensure that no hidden flames reignite. Authorities have also asked people to remain alert and report any fresh signs of smoke or fire immediately.
This heroic effort stands as an inspiring example of how unity and swift action can save lives, nature, and property even in difficult times.
