Assam CM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma had also targeted Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi over his visit to Pakistan amid the Pahalgam terror attack
Amid the furore over Pahalgam terror attack, Assam CM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday said in no uncertain terms that the government will take strongest possible action against citizens who display a soft corner towards Pakistan and act as “Pakistani dalaals”.
Chief Minister Dr Sarma, who was addressing a panchayat poll rally at Hojai, said without naming anyone but hinting at action against AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam for linking both Pulwama and Pahalgam terror attacks to the BJP in general and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in particular.
“Not only against Pakistan, action should also be taken against some Indian citizens who support Pakistan. I have seen that many people are making pro-Pakistan statements. I believe that the Central Government will take strong measures against such-anti-national people no matter what positions they hold,” Chief Minister Dr Sarma stated.
Listen in to CM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma’s Reaction:
The Assam Chief Minister’s comments came after the AIUDF MLA had linked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah with the Pulwama and the Pahalgam terror attacks.
“I believe that the central government had a role in the Pulwama attack which took place in 2018 in which over 40 BSF brave hearts were killed. The BJP was able to polarise voters in the 2019 general elections over the Pulwama attack issue and won the elections. I had sought an investigation but nothing was done. I believe that like Pulwama, the Narendra Modi government has a role to play in the Pahalgam attacks. If the government fails to bring out the truth, we will be bound to believe that both Narendra Modi and Amit Shah were behind the two attacks,” Aminul Islam said while campaigning for party candidates ahead of the upcoming Panchayat polls in his constituency Dhing yesterday (April 23).
Listen in to AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam’s shocking comments:
It may be mentioned here that Chief Minister Dr Sarma had at another election rally on Wednesday taken strong exception to Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi spending 15 days in Pakistan, that too without informing the government about his visit to an enemy nation.
He said that the SIT, which has been formed to look into his Pakistan visit and also the links Gogoi’s British wife Elizabeth Colburn had with the Pakistani establishment while working with Lead Pakistan, a non-profit organization headed by Pakistani national Ali Tauqeer Sheikh who allegedly had links with the ISI, will throw explosive revelations when the four-member team concludes its probe in September.
Meanwhile, several people have sought stringent action against the AIUDF MLA, demanding that he be arrested for such anti-national remarks.
