Navy officer who got married a week ago killed in Pahalgam terror attack: The image of a wife, numbed and sitting almost motionless besides the corpse of her husband whom she had wed just a week ago, has shocked the entire world.

Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, the 26-year-old Indian Navy officer from Karnal, Haryana who was killed by terrorists in the shocking Pahalgam terror attack on Tuesday (April 22) was on leave and celebrating his honeymoon with his newly-wed wife in Kashmir.

Vinay and his wife, Himanshi, were married just days earlier on April 16. The couple had initially planned a European honeymoon but changed their plans to visit Kashmir following visa issues, multiple media reports stated.

“He was married 4 days ago. Everybody was happy. We have received the information that he was killed by terrorists, and he died on the spot. He was an officer in the Navy,” a neighbour of Vinay, told news agency ANI.

He had joined the Navy two years ago and was posted in Kochi.

His grandfather Hawa Singh, NDTV reported, stated that Vinay was fascinated by the armed forces and always wanted to serve his country since he was a young boy.

He was inspired by his father, who served with the Border Security Force and Haryana Police, and his grandfather who was also a service veteran, the report added.
