The minor boy was on his way home with his elder sister when he was attacked by the leopard at Pub Madhebdeb Nagar in Maligaon
GUWAHATI, March 26: A minor boy was seriously injured after it was attacked by a leopard at Pub Madhebdeb Nagar in Maligaon locality of Guwahati.
The leopard attacked Faruk Ali, who was playing on his way home with his sister when the leopard pounced on him.
The leopard attacked the minor boy on his head and neck and tried to pull him towards the surrounding hillock but could not do so as the minor’s sister raised a hue and cry.
The injured child was first taken to the NF Railway hospital and was later shifted to Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) for better treatment.
“I along with my brother was on our way home when the leopard attacked him. The big cat attacked him on his neck and head and intending to pull him towards the hillocks. However, it ran away as I created a hue and cry,” the minor boy’s elder sister said.

People of the locality said the leopard used to frequent the area frequently and attack cattle and other livestock.
They further said that the leopard came down later at night yet again and took away a goat from the area.
People have demanded of Forest officials to set up a cage in the area so that the leopard could be caged.
