The MEA rejected Pakistan foreign office’s accusation of India having a hand in the Jaffar Express attack
GUWAHATI, March 14: The Jaffar Express attack by Balochistan militants has become another issue of diplomatic standoff between India and Pakistan after Islamabad accused New Delhi of masterminding the attack while India was quick to reject Pakistan’s accusations saying “the whole world knows where the epicenter of global terrorism lies”.
New Delhi today (March 14) strongly rejected allegations levelled by the Pakistan foreign office that India had a hand in the Jaffar Express attack.
The External Affairs Ministry condemned the allegations which, MEA official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said were “baseless” and that “the whole world knows where the epicenter of global terrorism lies”.
“We strongly reject the baseless allegations made by Pakistan. The whole world knows where the epicenter of global terrorism lies. Pakistan should look inwards instead of pointing fingers and shifting the blame for its own internal problems and failures on to others,” Rahdnir Jaiswal said.
The Pakistan foreign office had on Thursday alleged that the attackers were in contact with their ringleaders in Afghanistan.
“India has been involved in terrorism in Pakistan. In the particular attack on Jaffar express, the terrorists had been in contact with their handlers and ring leaders in Afghanistan,” Shafqat Ali Khan, spokesperson of the Pakistan foreign office, said during his weekly press briefing yesterday.
Meanwhile, amid the diplomatic war of words, Pakistani security forces claimed they eliminated all 33 Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) militants involved in the Jaffar Express attack.
The BLA, on the other hand, rejected Pakistani security forces’ claim that the hostage crisis was over saying “the battle is still ongoing across multiple fronts”.
