Israel stops entry of humanitarian aid & supplies into Gaza after ceasefire ends

PUBLISHED:

GUWAHATI, March 2: Israel has said that it is stopping entry of all goods and supplies, including humanitarian aid, into the Gaza Strip with the first phase of the ceasefire ending on Saturday (March 1), multiple media reports stated.

Israel had earlier said it supports extending the first phase of the ceasefire till the end of Ramadan, or April 20, claiming that the proposal came from the Trump administration’s Mideast envoy Steve Witkoff, the Associated Press reported.

The ceasefire agreement beginning January 19 halted 15 months of fighting, and allowed exchange of 33 Israeli hostages and five Thais captured on Hamas‘ October 7 attack in exchange of around 2,000 Palestinian prisoners and detainees held by Israel.

The first phase of the ceasefire was meant to lead to subsequent talks to build on a full-time peace deal.
