ICC Champions Trophy: Eying semi-final berth, Afghanistan bat first after winning toss against Australia

GUWAHATI, Feb 28: Afghanistan are hoping to keep their winning momentum going in their last Group B match against Australia. Afghanistan are eyeing a place in the last-four of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 after the 8-run victory over England in their last match at Lahore.

Afghan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi chose to bat after winning the toss but lost the wicket of opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz who returned to the pavilion without scoring.

Australia also need to win the match after their last match against South Africa was abandoned due to rain while the ODI world champions defeated England in a thrilling tournament opener by 5 wickets.

Afghanistan, meanwhile, lost their opening Group B encounter against South Africa by 107 runs.
