Pune bus rape case: Police release suspect’s photo, announce Rs 1 lakh reward for info

GUWAHATI, Feb 27: Pune Police have released the sketch of the person, a history sheeter out on bail, accused of raping a 27-year-old woman inside a parked Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus in Pune.

Dattatraya Ramdas Gade, the accused, is still on the run after he reportedly committed the crime in the wee hours of Tuesday.

Police have also announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for information about the accused’s present whereabouts with 13 special teams formed to track him down.

“A total of 13 teams are on the ground to nab the accused. Investigation is underway. Teams have also been sent to the bus stand, railway stations and other nearby locations. We are interrogating his family and the people who was contacted by the accused. The accused’s brother was questioned yesterday and today; we will question his family. A cash reward of Rs 1 lakh has been announced for the one who catches the accused…Since the accused had a mask on, it was not easy to recognise his face through CCTVs…We will soon arrest the accused,” Smartana Patil, Pune DCP Zone II, was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
