GUWAHATI, Feb 26: Afghanistan opener Ibrahim Zadran scored 177 runs from 146 balls, his career-best ODI score, as Afghanistan posted 325 runs in 50 overs losing 7 wickets in their second Group B match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 against England at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore today (Feb 26).

Zadran bettered his previous highest score of 162 runs in ODIs, as he raced to his 6th century in limited overs cricket, before falling for 177 runs in the final over of the Afghanistan innings.

Zadran’s 177 is now the highest individual score in Champions Trophy history, as he broke Ben Duckett’s 165 which the Englishman made against Australia when the two sides met in Lahore last Saturday.

Mohammad Nabi also slammed 40 runs from just 24 balls before he also fell in the last over of the innings. Azmatullah Omarzai scored a breezy 31-ball 40 while skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi made 40 from 67 balls as Afghanistan posted a challenging score in the must-win encounter in Group B.

Both Afghanistan and England had lost their opening match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and whoever gets beaten today will bow out of the tournament.
