GUWAHATI, Feb 26: At least two persons have been reported dead after Israeli warplanes hit Kisweh, a town south of Syria’s capital Damascus, late on Tuesday, local broadcaster Syria TV has reported.
Israel also targeted the southern province of Daraa.
People heard the sound of airplanes flying several low passes over the capital amid a series of blasts, news agency Reuters stated.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that at least two people were killed when the Israeli airstrike hit a military unit’s headquarters.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz, meanwhile, confirmed the military attacked in southern Syria.
“The Air Force is attacking strongly in southern Syria as part of the new policy we have defined of pacifying southern Syria – and the message is clear: we will not allow southern Syria to become southern Lebanon,” his spokesperson said in a statement.
