GUWAHATI, Jan 23: If you happen to be visiting the Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) or for that matter any other medical college or government hospital, you might land up in a precarious situation, neither for your fault nor for the fault of hospital authorities. The reason being thieves and thugs are increasingly making their way into the hospital premises, masquerading either as patients or attendants, and later decamping with valuables such as mobile phones and even case on many occasions from gullible victims, mostly patients and attendants.

A recent CCTV video from GMCH amplifies this worrying trend as a man was seen in the video picking up a mobile phone from an attendant while the latter was sleeping on the floor of one of the wards.

The incident took place at 4:20 am early Wednesday morning.

The man was seen in the CCTV video walking near the victim and then stooped down to pick up the mobile phone before making good his escape.

The victim later lodged at complaint at Bhangagarh Police Station based on which an FIR has been filed.

GMCH authorities, meanwhile, have asked people to remain vigilant and report about suspicious people loitering inside the hospital premises to authorities or to the security personnel.
