Assam DGP GP Singh appointed CRPF DG

GUWAHATI, Jan 19: Assam DGP Gyanendra Pratap Singh will be stepping down as the police chief of the State following his appointed as Director General (DG) of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

“The appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of he Ministry of Home Affairs for appointment of Shri GP Singh, IPS (AM-1991) as Director General, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Level116 of the pay matrix from the date of assumption f chare of the post for a tenure op to the ate f his superannuation on 30.11.2027 or until further orders, whichever is earlier,” a government order issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions dated January 18 (yesterday) stated.

GP Singh, who was on central deputation with the NIA, was flown in back to Assam following the violence that rocked the State during protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in December, 2019.

Singh succeeded Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta as DGP of Assam on January 31, 2023.
