GUWAHATI, Jan 16: The Assam cabinet, during its first outstation meeting of 2025 at Morigaon today, approved projects worth Rs 292 crore for the district.
Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, who addressed the media after the conclusion of the meeting, announced several decisions which he said have been taken to further augment overall development of Morigaon district.
Projects worth Rs 292 crore which were approved for Morigaon district today are:
■ Road connecting Balimukh to Sildubi via Bhuragaon – Rs 70 crore
■ Drainage system for Morigaon Town – Rs 55 crore
■ New Circuit House construction, Morigaon – Rs 15 crore
■ Stage in Junbeel Mela area – Rs 5 crore
■ Completion of pavilion and other facilities in Khirod Barua Stadium – Rs 5 crore
■ A fitting memorial for llaram Das Baap at Jaluguti – Rs 5 crore
■ Auditorium named after llaram Das Baap at Morigaon – Rs 20 crore
■ Guest House at Mikirbhata – Rs 1 crore
■ Tiwa Sahitya Sabha Bhawan – Rs 1 crore
■ Kapahera Stadium -Rs 3 crore
■ Development of 9 Schools above 100 years in the district – Rs 72 crore (Rs 8 crore each)
■ Development of 8 Prominent Colleges – Rs 40 crore (Rs 5 crore each)
Besides the above projects for which funds were earmarked, Chief Minister Sarma said his government is also considering to set up an industrial plant spanning 1,000 bighas of land in the district.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma also visited the venue of Joon Beel Mela and also inspected the Tata semi-conductor plant at Jagiroad after the cabinet meeting ended.
