On asked about the panchayat poll schedule, Chief Minister Sarma said elections will be held a day after the Higher Secondary examinations end in Assam, pointing to the fact that the hustings, as he had announced on Sunday, will be held after the end of the HSLC and HS examinations.

Chief Minister Sarma also spoke about several key decisions taken in today’s cabinet meeting — including the constitution of an SIT to probe the Umrangso mine tragedy — which was held at the conference hall of the Morigaon District Commissioner’s office.
