GUWAHATI, Jan 8: Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda, who arrived in Assam on a two-day visit yesterday night, today inaugurated a state-of-the-art library and informatics centre at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Regional Institute of Mental Health (LGBRIMH) in Tezpur.
He was accompanied by Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and State Health Minister Ashok Singhal, among others, during his visit to LGBRIMH, Tezpur.
Nadda also attended a meeting of the Board of Governors of the health institute.
The Union Health Minister then laid the foundation stone of a 50-bedded critical care block at Mangaldai Civil Hospital.
Chief Minister Sarma said while accompanying the Union Health Minister that the critical care block in Mangaldai Civil Hospital will ensure timely care for patients of Darrang district.
JP Nadda also visited the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Changsari on the outskirts of Guwahati, and reviewed ongoing development works.
