GUWAHATI, Dec 27: Sensation prevails in Garigaon locality of Guwahati after the bodies of a 13-year-old school girl and a school van driver were recovered floating in the Brahmaputra river today morning.
People saw two bodies floating in the Brahmaputra near the river bank in Garigaon and informed the police suspecting them to be that of Juhi Das and Hirakjyoti Das who were missing since Tuesday midnight.
Juhi’s family had lodged a complaint at Jalukbari Police Station alleging that she was kidnapped by Hirakjyoti.
Although the Juhi’s family alleged that she was kidnapped, allegedly by Hirakjyoti, CCTV footage showed both of them walking out together. Her family members, however, alleged that she was coaxed by Hirakjyoti into eloping with him.
Meanwhile, police are conducting necessary formalities and an inquest will be conducted which will be followed by a post-mortem to ascertain whether they were killed or they took the extreme step themselves.
