GUWAHATI, Dec 25: Skipper Rohit Sharma is expected to be back as opener in the Boxing Day fourth test in Melbourne while KL Rahul, who had been opening in the first three tests, is slated to bat at No. 3, a report in The Times of India stated.
There is, however, no clarity on Shubman Gill’s position in the playing eleven and whether he will make it to the starting line-up.
Meanwhile, the report also claimed that the team management is considering the idea of playing two spinners. Washington Sundar, reports say, likely to get the nod to partner Ravindra Jadeja.
In such a scenario Nitish Kumar Reddy, who had done relatively well in the first three tests, could be forced to sit out.
The five-Test series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is tied 1-1 with the fourth test beginning at Melbourne tomorrow (Dec 26).
