GUWAHATI, Dec 22: The Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma-led State Government in Assam and the Assam Police has launched the third phase of crackdown on child marriage with 416 arrests being made while 335 cases were registered on the night of Dec 21-22.
Taking to ‘X’, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that the crackdown on child marriage has begun on the intervening night of Dec 21 and 22 with 416 arrests being made from across the State and 335 cases registered
“Assam continues its fight against child marriage.
In Phase 3 operations launched on the night of Dec 21-22, 416 arrests were made and 335 cases registered.
The arrested individuals will be produced in court today.
We will continue to take bold steps to end this social evil!” Chief Minister Dr Sarma stated in his post on ‘X’.
