GUWAHATI, Dec 13: Meta-owned messanging giant WhatsApp has announced some new and exciting updates to its audio and video call features.
These updates aim to make staying in touch with family and friends even more seamless, especially considering the holiday period in the West.
“Ahead of the holiday season, we’re introducing new calling features across desktop and mobile, so that connecting with your loved ones is easier than ever, a blogpost by WhatsApp stated.
Among the new features being introduced is the ability to select specific participants while making a call from a group chat and not calling everyone in the group as was the case earlier.
“Now when you start a call from a group chat, you can select specific participants, so you call exactly who you want without disrupting the rest. Ideal for planning surprise parties or presents,” the blog post stated.
For those who enjoy video calls, WhatsApp is introducing new effects and allowing callers ten different options to choose, “from adding puppy ears, to taking you underwater, or handing you a microphone for karaoke”.
The new features also include improved calling on desktop and better quality video calls, the messanging giant stated.
